The camera relationship

Knowing your camera is important for the sole-purpose of being able to control it.
But how do you actually get to know your camera? The answer is simple:

Spend some time with it.

It’s like any good relationship: In order to get along and to get to know each other you need to spend time together.

Spend some time on reading the instructions. You don’t need to read the whole book all in one go, rather just read a small part of it, and then go and grab your camera.

The next step will be to use your camera.

Go out, take pictures (after all that’s what your camera is made for), and get to know your camera through putting theory into practice.
Over time you’ll become more confident in using your camera and taking photos which will also make it more fun.

Every now and then you will come across a problem which you don't know how to solve.
This is when you go back to consulting the instructions.

As you get to know your camera and its settings better there will be fewer situations where you’ll have to read the instructions.

Just remember: the more time you spend together the more comfortable you get around each other.

What are your tips for getting to know your camera?
